Default 6 Tips for Great Website Design!

Create Your Website Design with a Purpose!

Although website design is a constantly changing, there are some general guidelines to live so that you are capable of designing a successful online income earning website. Most visitors will only have your website with which to make a judgment of you and the products or services that your website has to offer them, you must remember that you only have about 2 minutes to make a strong positive first impression on the people who are visiting your website therefore it is imperative to have a good website design.

If you fail to keep your visitors attention and keep them on your site you will not fail to earn any income from your Google AdSense ads. You must remember to pay attention to every detail of your website design whether big or small, even the little details can be noticed by your visitors and can show them you commitment, or lack of commitment, to professionalism when it comes to providing a high quality website. I would suggest that view your website pages with a neutral point of view or even get a second point of view after you have done some work on your website design. You want to ensure your visitors a positive experience when visiting your site so that they will value your website and continue to return in the future. The following are six important rules to follow that will help to get you started on the road to creating a profitable website design immediatly.

1) Avoid Using Splash Pages, they are Annoying

Splash pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website and for many visitors they are often the very last thing they will see, having splash pages shows a a lack fo good website design and can speak volumes about how your business operates. Splash pages normally have a very enticing image with words like "welcome" or "click here to enter", unfortunately many visitors do not like splash pages and in fact some studies have shown that as many as 25% of the traffic to a website will leave right after encountering a splash page, this can have a detrimental effect to the amount of traffic that actually sees your Adsense ads or affiliate products that you may be selling. It’s as simple as this, if you have 25% of your traffic leaving before seeing your ads, services or products you are losing out on 25% of your potential income. In Addition, search engines cannot properly optimize flash pages as there is virtually no information for them to go on. This type of poor website design can prevent your website from appearing in searches done by search engines such as Google, AOL, and MSN. These are where you will get most of your traffic from and if you can’t get listed because of a splash page you again are missing out on a revenue source, and search engines are probably your biggest source of traffic.

2). Provide Easy Navigation Throughout Your Site

You may be thinking to yourself right now that creating a good website design that is easy to navigate is not something to worry too much about or consider in your website design. It is easy to design a site that you personally find is easy to navigate from page to page, however, more often than not, what makes sense to you, the creator of the website, is not so easy to follow for the first time visitor. It is important to ensure that your navigation buttons are easy to locate and the title of its function should be easy to understand, you want gain maximum exposure to your AdSense ads, your services, or your products and by giving your visitors the easiest and understandable methods to navigate between your site pages is one way to do this. An example of good website design when it comes to navigation and buttons is when you want traffic to go to a purchase page for products and goods, you want to name the button “Buy Now”. This guarantees that the traffic on your site knows exactly where they are going and what they will find there. In general, people are not very patient with being misdirected from navigational buttons and if they click on a specific button and end up being directed somewhere else, frustration arises and leaving your site may be the end and costly result. You want to avoid mislabeling these tools so as to keep people on your site and viewing your ads and products as well as to encourage them to return in the future. Remember, return visitors can equal more money and more opportunities for you.

3). Avoid Flash Page Frustration

As mentioned with using the correct navigational buttons and tools on your website design, flash graphics pages are great if you want to get in an occasional message, but in general, they are a stop sign in the middle of the road. Website traffic is crucial to a successful site, so, as a rule, you do not want to irritate the traffic by using flash pages with graphics on your site. Remember, the more traffic and the longer it stays, the more clicks for your AdSense ads that you have and more opportunities to sell your affiliate products or services. If you decide to initiate this method of website design, make sure that your visitor can ‘x’ out or close the flash page to move forward, this will at least help keep them around a little longer.

4) Do not use excessive banner advertisements

In general, even people that are the least internet savvy have trained themselves to disregard banner advertisements as they are annoying. How many times have you looked at a banner ad and simply ignored it? Another route you can travel down would be to provide content that is more beneficial to your traffic and intertwine affiliate links into your website. This allows for your visitors to feel that they want to buy instead of being pushed into buying; creating this type of atmosphere comes from good web design. Remember that you want to be able to control the validity of your site by providing all of the correct content that is going to benefit you. Having banner ads from unrepeatable companies or websites on your site can tarnish the reputation and value of your websites and eventually cost you traffic and revenue that you could be earning from your Adsense ads and affiliate products.

5) Remind the User Where They Are

Once a user clicks into a site section, it is a good idea to remind them of where they are, keep them interest in the subject or subjects that are provided on the page so that they will stay and possibly earn you money. Make sure that you use a consistent method to highlight the section a visitor is in, such as a change in color or appearance. If your website has more than one page per section, be sure to leave the button clickable so your traffic can use it to get back to the main page of that area. By incorporating these types of features into your web design you are can greatly increase the user’s experience and keep them wanting more.

6) Avoid using audio on your site

If you plan to use any type of audio in your website design I highly suggest that you provide audio controls so that the audio can be muted, most visitors get easily annoyed by hearing the same audio track over and over, whether it is a voice, music or sound. I believe there is no quicker way to chase away a visitor then having audio in your web design, so avoid it if at all possible.

As you can see, there are quite a few tips outlined in this article and by using these tips, you will be able to see the benefits that having a well designed website can give you through the increase in profits from the use of your Google AdSense ads, other ad programs or your affiliate sales.
