Here are some good off page ideas, we use all of them.

Blog Posting: Work with blog owners who will let you post or comment on their blogs.

Press Releases: Send out a press release every week. Press release sites are some of the most powerful sites on the net.

Articles: We send out an articles based upon your target market. Article sites are active, strong and spidered often.

Free Directories: We have some unique directories and are always making more, plus we source theme based directories for you.

Social Websites: Sites like digg.com, mySpace, etc. can be a great advantage to your site by way of activity, links and traffic.

Authority Links: It is difficult to get stable authority links but not impossible, you just need to know the right people.

One way linking: The most effective link is someone who gives you a link because they like your site.

Reciprocal linking: This is the same as a link trade. You and site b exchange links on each others sites.

Forum signature linking: Forums are a great way to get links because of their social status.

Three way linking: This goes around the link exchange theory and provides more link juice but are not very common.

Linkbaiting: This is the latest and best way to get links. Do something unique and good sites will link to you.

Here is another list of ideas:

* Make a resource (lists, reports, history of, how to, etc.)
* e-mail/phone Interview prominent people and publish it.
* Build a web tool
* Write/publish an interesting article
* Start an‘event’ such as a contest
* Test something not done before
* Be the first in doing something
* Write something political/motivational
* Write the latest news in your niche
* Be the first to expose a scammer
* Agree/disagree with an authority
* Write something funny
* Take an interesting picture
* Be the first to document something
* Make a theme, plugin or unique software
* Make a tool that that links to you
* Research a major event
* Write an outrageous theory
* Write useful comments
* Give something valuable away for free
* Coin a new acronym in your niche
* Become an expert and write valuable information

For me, forum posting on DO-FOLLOW forums and blogging+social bookmarking is the effective off page tasks for me.
