I was a little confused about my page rank and the rank of my site to the search engine... my page rank is 4, but in ranking to the search engine i was always on the 2nd page or third page.... why?

If high Pagerank automatically meant you rank on top, sites like Adobe, Google, Yahoo and others with PR9 and PR10 would flood the front page for most searches.

Ranking has more to do with keywords, phrases, anchor text in backlinks, theme and so on than it has to PR.

Forget about PR, it is "the" worst metric to gauge anything on your visitors, pageviews per visitor, revenue, conversion ratio etc are far better things to look at and improve.

The PR has not got much to do with actual SERP. It depends more on your keywords

Definitely... Used your keyword in your anchortext, It will help you rank on serp with that keyword..

You can get good results in keyword search even if you have PR1 so this proves that PR is not that important.
