Yes quite ordinary however the goal wasn't to win, the prize was only $1,000 which is a tough way to earn a buck for 3 months work. The goal was to throw up an ordinary page with almost zero work to see how it fared against the skill set of those involved in the competition.

True, it could be argued a good referral can generate backlinks linkbait and using various methods, and it would be correct ... However, the creation of SEO linkbait uses his creative talents SEO, while someone with knowledge is nil SEO mindlessly throwing punches and deliver bills to be able to compete.
